Ruling
1. The Italian Constitutional Court (Corte costituzionale) dismissed the issues of constitutionality concerning Art. 299, paragraph 1 of the Italian Civil Code, insofar as it does not allow, in the case of adult adoption, the substitution of the adoptee’s original surname with that of the adopter, even with the consent of both parties. The different treatment of adult adoptees does not constitute an unreasonable unequal treatment pursuant to Article 3, paragraph 1, of the Constitution.
